On Saturday August 8th, 1998, Charlie Parker and Wayman Price entered the newly formed Center for the Arts. They had recently seen MLT's production of Bye, Bye Birdie, and Wayman decided he wanted to audition for their next production, Deathtrap, directed by the legendary Tom Harris.
The piano from Birdie was still on stage, and during a lull in auditions, Charlie sat down to play.
Before the weekend was over, Wayman had been cast in the show, Charlie had signed on to write a musical score for the production, and they had been asked to direct MLT's next summer musical, A Funny Thing happened on the Way to the Forum.
And now, 20 years later, Charlie and Wayman are still at it.
They fell in love with the people they met. And though the location has changed a few times over the years, MLT still holds a special place in their hearts.
Over the next couple of week, we will be updating this page. In the meantime.....
