Session One: Acting/Auditioning
 June 4-8 and 11-15, Showcase June 16
Ages: Completed Kindergarten and Up

This two week session is designed to teach and enhance known acting/auditioning techniques to create well-rounded, educated actors. It is also designed to teach auditioning techniques to appeal to directors for youth and community productions
The Showcase will feature a full performance of 30-45 minutes. The campers will learn about acting and auditioning in week one and will implement in week two by being cast and performing in a production. 
Session Two: Playwriting
June 18-22, Showcase June 23
Ages: Completed 2nd Grade and Up 

This one week session is designed to teach basic objectives of playwriting and how the quality of script affects the overall production. It is appropriate for beginners and experienced writers. A strong ability to read and write is recommended.
The Showcase will feature student written pieces performed by the campers.
Session Three: Technical Theatre
 June 25-29, Showcase June 30
Ages: Completed Kindergarten and Up

This one week session is designed to teach a basic understanding of how technical theatre applies to the actor and overall production value of a show. It is intended to broaden the awareness of the importance of directing, set design, light design, sound design, props design, and costume/make-up design, in addition to acting to make a complete production. It is appropriate for beginners and experienced youth designers/actors.
The showcase will feature student design presentations. 

Session Four: Music and Dance
 July 9-13, Showcase July 14
Ages: Completed 2nd Grade and Up
This one week session is designed to teach foundations of theatrical vocals and choreography. It is intended to teach techniques for child vocalists and to incorporate acting into vocal performance. This session is also intended to teach basic styles of dance to prepare for auditioning and performing in musical theatre. It is appropriate for beginners and experienced vocalists/dancers.
The Showcase will feature compilations of solo and group vocals and dance. 
Session Five: Advanced Acting
 July 16-20, Showcase July 21
Ages: Completed 2nd Grade and Up
This one week session is designed to expound upon foundational acting techniques and build solid understanding of the actor’s role in a production. It is intended to teach scholarly and practical approaches to analyzing script, character, and implementing direction. This session is recommended for students with a basic foundation in acting or performance.
The Showcase will feature monologues and duet scenes performed by the campers.

MLT’s Summer Camp 2018 is an immersive experience for children and youth of all ages to learn and develop in all aspects of theater. 
Instead of being cast in a single role and working toward a full production each session, 
the one or two week period will train attendees to understand the production value of theater from start to finish. 
Each session will culminate in a showcase featuring each child’s work throughout the process. 
Each session is a performance based curriculum with exposure to theory and practical application in multiple focuses in order to train well-rounded young actors.

MLT offers SIX sessions to choose from with major discounts for multiple siblings and sessions!

Camp Days begin at 9:00 am (8:30 drop-off time) and end at 3:00 pm​ (3:30 pick-up time)
MLT does NOT provide Lunch;  please include snacks and a lunch each day for your camper(s) in an insulated container.
Please make sure that each and every day your camper(s) wear hard sole or tennis shoes (SANDALS are NOT allowed)!
MLT Provides as part of your tuition a Free T-Shirt; to insure the proper size, please register before June 4th!

Session Six: Fantastical Theater
 July 23-27, Showcase July 28
Ages: Completed Kindergarten and Up
This one week session is designed to expose young actors to fantasy characterizations: animals, zombies, monsters, and the like.  Children's productions often call for these types of characters and the intention of the camp is to teach movement and techniques for getting cast!  Also includes costume and make-up techniques.  Fun and appropriate for children of all ages.  The Showcase will feature a final performance where these characters come to life on MLT's stage!
